What are we calling for?
Athletes Wanted: Can we talk?
Can we talk about the Uyghur genocide? Tibet’s brutal occupation? China’s crackdown on democracy in Hong Kong? The IOC has put you in an impossible position, but there are is still time left to meet with Tibetans, Uyghurs and Hong Kongers. Regardless if you’ll compete or not, let’s talk about how we can work together to shine a light on the Chinese government’s crimes. #TogetherForASharedFuture
Tibetan, Uyghur, and Hong Konger activists are currently at some of the last qualifying events for #Beijing2022 to talk with athletes about the Chinese government’s human rights abuses!
Sonamtso, former SFT Campaigns Director, had the opportunity to meet Olympian and world-famous athlete, Shaun White. The first thing she told him is how much this flag means to her. Inside Tibet today, if she walked up to an Olympic athlete with that flag, she could be jailed indefinitely, tortured, and even killed.
